Work Restarts on Trail Bridge
Funding still needed for final trail link
The New Brunswick Trails Council has restarted work on a 220-foot suspension bridge where the Shogomoc River enters the Mactaquac head pond, near Nackawic.
The bridge is the final link of the Trans-Canada Trail between the Quebec border and Grand-Bay Westfield.
Executive Director of NB Trails Poul Jorgensen said they had started the work on the bridge, but there were many setbacks.
Jorgensen says, although the work has restarted, NB Trails will still need more funding to complete the bridge over the Shogomoc River.
Meanwhile, the provincial government signed an agreement in August 2010 stating that the final link to complete the Trans-Canada trail will be completed by 2017.
