Geneva Winterink (second from left), and Jill Brennan (third from left), are biking across Canada to raise money for disadvantaged school-aged children to allow them to take part in sports.

Story by Brad Perry

If you think biking around the block or up the street is hard, what about biking across Canada?

That is exactly what two Ontario women are doing to raise money for underprivileged children to play in sports.

Jill Brennan and Geneva Winterink began their journey in early June in British Columbia and are planning on being in St. John's, Newfoundland, August 20.

Brennan says so far along their trip, Toronto has been their most motivating spot.

Winterink says the kids are her motivation to get up and keep biking between 130 and 160 kilometres each day.

The two have raised between $20,000 and $25,000 so far.
