Maxine Brown never had any huge top-of-the-chart hits in the '60s, which is part of why she ends up a footnote on any list of great female pop and R&B singers from the era, if she ends up even that, which is a shame, because she sure could sing. This brief set of her key sides includes wonderful versions of a pair of Carole King and Gerry Goffin songs, "Oh No Not My Baby" and "It's Gonna Be Alright."
