Midget AAA

Try-outs for the Fredericton Midget AAA Tommies Hockey Team, sponsored by Saint Thomas University, for the 2010-2011 hockey season, will take place at the Carleton Civic Centre, Woodstock. This zone includes players from the areas of Boiestown, Doaktown, Oromocto, Fredericton, Grand Lake, York North, York West, Nackawic, Woodstock, Perth-Andover, Plaster Rock, Florenceville, Grand Falls, Edmundston. Try-out fee will be $40.

Try-outs will be held
Wednesday, September 1st at 6:30 pm
Friday, September 3rd at 6 pm

A Message From Your Fire Chief

The Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs, urge you to check the smoke alarms in your cottage, and to follow these steps
• Install smoke alarms on every storey of your cottage and outside all bedrooms
• Replace smoke alarm batteries at least once per year
• Test your smoke alarms monthly and replace devices more than 10 years old
• Only install smoke alarms that have a “Hush" Button
• Prepare and practice a fire escape plan
• If your alarms are more than 10 years old, replace them.
• If your cottage has a fireplace, or gas or propane appliances, install at least one carbon monoxide alarm.
• Clean heating appliances and barbecues before use.
• Check with your local fire department or municipality for restrictions on campfires or burning brush.

Grand Falls Minor Hockey Association

The Grand Falls Minor Hockey Association will take your 2010-2011 registrations at the E&P Senechal Centre on Sept 4,5 and 11 from 10am to 3pm. Also, the Grand Falls Park and leisure Services will take registration during the week of Sept 7 to 10 from 8am-4pm. Visit their website at www.gfmha.com to complete a registration form. Have your Medicare card for registration.

Falls Beer Fest

It’s the FALLS BEER FEST. Do you enjoy beer? If so come and sample great beers at the Grand Falls 3rd annual beer fest. The event will feature a variety of Canadian microbrewed beers and will be held Friday Sept. 10th at 7pm to 11 pm at the Grand Falls farmers market. North West Bantam AAA Hockey Tryouts

EDZA West and the North West Bantam AAA Bulls invite all hockey players from Woodstock to Edmundston and St. Quentin/Kedgwick, who were born in 1996 and 1997, to hockey tryouts for the North West Bantam AAA Bulls (of the NB Bantam AAA Hockey League) for the upcoming 2010-2011 season.


Tryouts will be held at the E&P Senechal Center (Ouellette Street in Grand Falls) on September 11th and September 12th, 2010. There will be 2 ice sessions per day (10:00am - 11:50am & 2:00pm - 3:50pm) for the camp. 


Cost of these tryouts is $60 per player and players are guaranteed 7 (seven) hours of ice time.


There will be an information session for players and parents prior to the first ice session for players. They are requested to be present one hour before the scheduled ice time.

Hear This Presentation on Alzheimer's Disease

The Alzheimer Society, in partnership with the New Brunswick Department of Wellness, Culture, and Sport, and with support from the Senior and Healthy Aging Secretariat, is proud to announce that renowned Alzheimer’s disease specialist Dr. Jack Diamond will be stopping in
Grand Falls New Brunswick to present the latest in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia research and discuss how living a healthy lifestyle can reduce the risk of developing dementia. This province-wide tour will provide important information to thousands of New Brunswickers who currently live with Alzheimer’s disease as well as the local communities in which they live.

The Healthy Brain Presentations offered by Dr. Diamond will be held September 13th at the Town Hall in the Roland LaFrance room, from 11:30 until 1pm.

Grand Falls Public Library

Registration for French Story Hour at the Grand Falls Public Library will start Tuesday, September 14th. The first Story Hour will begin Wednesday, October 20th from 10:30 to 11:30. Each week we will read stories, sing songs, play games and make crafts. Please not that children must be four years old before December 31st and that registration by phone is not accepted.

The members of J’écris ma vie will start their activities on September 14th. J’écris ma vie is an autobiography writing workshop offered in French by Mariette Beaupré, member of the Association J’écris ma vie, two Tuesdays per month from 1:30 to 4:00 until April 2011.

Hazardous Waste

Does your house hold hazardous waste? Haz-Waste and E-Waste days are coming your way. Keep your home safe and take your unwanted chemicals to there event and they will handle them safely.

Here are some common household hazardous waste products: batteries, bleach, car care products, pool chemicals, stain removers, used engine oil and lots more. They’re coming to Perth-Andover Wednesday Sept 15 from 4:30-7:30pm at the Municipal Garage, 26 Armstrong Street. They will be in Plaster Rock Wednesday September 22 form 4;30-7;30pm at the Municipal Garage on 98 Girouard Street!!!!

Grand Falls Public Library Café Literacy

The Café littéraire for adults will begin Thursday, October 1st from 2:00 to 3:00. The Café littéraire is a chance for adults to get together to discuss what they're reading while enjoying a coffee every first Thursday of each month until May.
