Earthquake In Haiti - Red Cross Donations

Contacting family members, friends
Canadians attempting to contact family members or friends in Haiti can call the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade emergency operation centre at 1-800-387-3124, or inquire by email at: sos@international.gc.ca.

DFAIT is also advising Canadians who need assistance in Haiti to travel to the Canadian Embassy in Port-au-Prince on Delmas Road, between Delmas 75 and 71. Canadians can also contact embassy officials by calling 613-996-8885.

French Computer Course

The Grand Falls Public Library will be offering four French computer courses for beginners on March 11th, March 25th, April 8th and April 22nd from 1:30 to 2:30:

Canoe Building & Paddling on The Tobique River

CANOE-KAYAK NB WILL HOLD A WINTER PRESENTATION ON CANOE BUILDING AND PADDLING ON THE TOBIQUE RIVER BY BILL MILLER ON SATURDAY (MARCH 13) FROM 2:30 TO 5 PM IN ROOM 2110 OF THE WOODSTOCK COMMUNITY COLLEGE.  THERE WILL BE A DEMONSTRATION ON CANOE BUILDING PLUS A SLIDE SHOW AND PHOTO PRESENTATION. THERE IS NO ADMISSION FEE AND EVERYONE IS WELCOME.

Grand Falls Public Library

The third and last workshop on Sustainable Communities offered in partnership with the Falls Brook Centre will be held Tuesday, March 16th from 6:00 to 8:00. Discover you innate abilities to mobilize yourselves and others in leadership: The ability to gather a group of people and plan together as a group. There are many types of leaders and aspects to leadership. This workshop offers experiences that allow you to get to know and develop your inner leader. Because one single person can have great ideas but it takes a whole group to make them reach greater achievements. Please register in advance.

St Patricks Church Supper

A chicken stew supper with dessert and coffee and tea is being held at St. Patricks church in Lower Portage on Mar. 17th 4-6pm. Cost is $8 adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Come enjoy a supper with friends.

Spaghetti Supper

The John Caldwell Year book committee is having a SPAGHETTI SUPPER fund raiser. Come enjoy a delicious spaghetti supper EAT IN OR TAKE OUT. Thursday Mar. 18th from 5pm 7pm.

Malobiahana Figure Skating club

Malobiahana Figure Skating club will be holding their Ice Show March 20th starting at 3:00pm, Skaters from for Canskate, Junior and Intermediate levels with special guests will be performing their numbers in front of their public.

Tickets are presently available through Sport & Leisure administration located at the E.P. Sénéchal Center of Grand Falls in advance sale price of 10.00$ for adults and 5.00$ children under 12, 15.00$ at the door the day of the event for adults, tickets are also available through club members.

Grand Falls Historical Society

Grand Falls Historical Society will be hosting its annual St. Patrick’s Sing-Along on Saturday, March 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall located on Front Street, Grand Falls. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children. There will be good music and food for those who will be attending.

Benefit Breakfast

Sunday March 21st there will be a "Benefit Breakfast" from 10am to 1pm at the Quality Inn Pres du Lac restaurant. The price for a ticket is 10 dollars and all the profits will go to the Grand Falls Regional Food Bank. The menu has ham, potatoes, toast, eggs, corn fillers, juice and coffee. Tickets will be available starting March 9th at Grand Falls Food Bank, Quality Inn Pres du Lac and Meubles Cote.

Southern Victoria Skate Club

Southern Victoria Skate Club has an upcoming Skate Show held at the River Valley Civic Center in Perth- Andover on March 24/10 @6:30 pm. Our theme this year is a tribute to our Olympic athletes with performances from our community members as well as Skaters from Grand Falls and singing featuring our Jr. singing star of the Victoria Music festival Zack Rioux. Please come out and support your skate club.

PTA Alumni Hockey

Grand Falls Rotary Cash Draw

Each year the Grand Falls Rotary club holds a fundraiser in the form of a lottery. This year the drawing will be held on April 26th, 2010.
There are only 350 tickets available for sale, greatly augmenting the odds of winning. Tickets are sold by our members at $60.00 each.

Grand Falls Public Library Café Literacy

The Café littéraire for adults will begin Thursday, October 1st from 2:00 to 3:00. The Café littéraire is a chance for adults to get together to discuss what they're reading while enjoying a coffee every first Thursday of each month until May.
